Assessment Literacy Institute, LLC was founded by Dr. Carrie Button to support ongoing research, dissemination, and professional dialogue around assessment literacy in teacher education.

Building on this research, the Institute examines how assessment literacy is developed, understood, and emphasized across educator preparation and professional practice.

Dr. Button’s work explores the relationship between teacher preparation and the assessment demands educators encounter in practice.

This includes:

• Educators’ perceptions of assessment literacy
• The extent to which assessment concepts are embedded across teacher education programs
• Opportunities to strengthen alignment between preparation and practice

In addition to ongoing research, this work informs approaches to examining how assessment literacy is represented across teacher education programs, including curriculum, coursework, and program design.

These insights are intended to support deeper understanding of how programs prepare educators for the realities of assessment in practice.

This work may also inform future approaches to program-level reflection and evaluation in educator preparation.

Assessment Literacy Institute is currently in an early research and dissemination phase. Additional resources, publications, and opportunities for engagement may be shared as the work continues to develop.
